Steps

  1. 1
Search. Search on your favorite search engine, such as Google or Ask Jeeves. Search "email" and "mail" as your search terms. View every page that says free email.

  2. 2
Features. Does it have Virus Protection? Does it have a spam filter? How much space is there to put all of your emails in?

  3. 3
POP/IMAP/SMTP. Can you receive emails through POP or IMAP servers? Can you use their SMTP servers? Can you do all this for free?

  4. 4
Pick an email provider from that Search Engine search. Which one has these features?

  5. 5
Name. Pick a good name. Short names attract more spam such as bob@gmail.com. If you make your username your full name such as john.smith@gmail.com, you might get a lot of spam as well because some spammers try random names like that. You might want to try something longer.

  6. 6
Registration. Register that perfect username. Remember to use it only for personal use. If you will get some email from your business put them in your contacts or a whitelist, so the mails from your business won't get into your spam/bulk mail folder.
